THANK YOU!

AC Results 2008

I want to thank all of my supporters, donors, endorsers and volunteers for everything that you have done to help me in my re-election campaign.  I want to give a special thanks to my kitchen cabinet for all of their assistance throughout the campaign.  In no particular order:  Karen Hemphill, Donna Graves, Roia Ferrazares, Charles (Chuck) Robinson, Arlene Keys, Frankie Fraser, Christine Staples, Stephanie Johnson, and an extra special thanks to Seth Goddard for designing my website (www.moorefordistrict2.com) and doing all of the graphic design work for the campaign.

I look forward to working with all of you in this coming term to make District 2 the best that it can be.

BOCA/BEEMA/SWBCC Candidate Forum

At the candidate forum hosted by Berkeley Organizing Congregations for Action (BOCA), Berkeley Black Ecumenical Ministers' Alliance (BBEMA) and South/West Berkeley Concerned Communities (SWBCC), the question that was posed to the candidates for City Council was:

"Rather than increasing the size of the police force, what alternative approaches would you take to help address the recent increase in violence?"

Here is my response...

The Daily Cal Endorses Darryl Moore

Understanding that crime is one of the most salient issues on the minds of Southwest Berkeley residents, particularly in recent times, the Daily Californian has recognized my active role in addressing crime issues in District 2.  It has also acknowledged my comprehensive approach to crime prevention and diversion through community development.  This is why the Daily Californian has endorsed me for my bid for re-election for District 2.  For the full article and/or to listen to the Daily Californian's podcast.

My Campaign Kickoff

I want to thank everyone that came out to support me and my bid for re-election at my campaign kickoff event.  For those of you who were unable to make it, I am sorry I missed you, but there will be plenty of opportunities to show your support.  Put a sign in your window, help me walk precincts, just email me for opportunities to help my campaign.  For those of you that missed the fun, here are some pictures from the kickoff.

Supporting Youth - Rosa Parks Backpack Event 2008

Supporting youth and assuring the academic success of all of our community's children has always been one of my main priorities.  This is why every year my office collaborates with the Parent & Teachers Association (PTA) to distribute customized backpacks full of school supplies and goodies to kindergarten and first-graders. This year the event attracted a couple hundred attendees, many of which were new students to Rosa Parks who were elated to receive the backpacks. Parents, teachers and especially the children were extremely grateful at the welcoming the students received at the picnic. This event has become a flagship at the school that really gives all of the new Rosa Parks kids a jumpstart to the school year.
